Common C36000 Free-Cutting Brass Specifications & Heat Treatment / Temper
| Material | C36000 Free-Cutting Brass |
|---|---|
| Common rod/bar standard | ASTM B16/B16M for free-cutting brass rod/bar (UNS C36000) when specified. |
| Supplied condition / heat treatment | Commonly furnished with controlled cold-work temper; annealing affects ductility but this brass is not age-hardened like PH stainless. |
| Precision ground rod inquiry | Provide final OD and explicit tolerance limits, supplied temper, bar length, quantity, finish and required documentation. |
C36000 lead content and machining chips may affect regulated applications.
Reference standards and supplied tempers require confirmation by supplier and product form. No automatic in-house heat-treat capability, stock or material certification is implied by this guide.
FREE-MACHINING BRASS / PRECISION ROD & ROUND BAR BUYING GUIDE
C36000 brass is frequently chosen for production machining of fittings and precision turned details.
C36000 Free-Cutting Brass Material Specification
UNS C36000; confirm ASTM B16/B16M if required. This should be paired with the final diameter, length, quantity and finish requirements when requesting a precision rod quote. A UNS/AA grade alone does not establish the delivered form or a special finishing process.
Available Condition and Processing Route
State rod size, temper and any lead-content or compliance requirement.
For aluminum and copper-based alloys, turning, drawing, rolling, burnishing, polishing or other finishing methods may be more suitable than centerless grinding for a particular tolerance and surface. We confirm the process by material and order rather than advertising a universal grinder capability.
Potential C36000 Free-Cutting Brass Applications
Valves, fittings, connectors and screw-machine components.
These are general purchasing/application examples. Every use, especially electrical, aerospace or regulated fluid systems, requires specific engineering and material certification review.
C36000 Free-Cutting Brass Centerless Ground & TG&P Bar Options
C36000 Free-Cutting Brass Centerless Ground Bar
For C36000 Free-Cutting Brass centerless ground rod or bar, specify C36000 exactly, including the applicable lead-related material and procurement requirements, plus finished size. Learn about centerless grinding services and final OD planning.
C36000 Free-Cutting Brass TG&P / Turned, Ground & Polished
For C36000 Free-Cutting Brass TG&P (TGP) or turned, ground and polished bar, C36000 TG&P should be quoted with dimensional and finish details; do not assume steel-shafting production routes apply unchanged. Review rod sourcing and polishing options.
Centerless-ground rods are not automatically TG&P. Confirm the exact bar grade and condition, finished diameter and limits, straightness, finish, length, processing route and stock availability before ordering. Request pricing →
Technical and Compliance Checks
Lead-containing brass can be restricted for certain uses; verify drinking-water or other regulated material compliance.

Confirm Supply and Precision Finishing
Precision Ground Rods coordinates sourcing and finishing inquiries on a quotation basis. We evaluate rod sourcing, compatible finishing, cut-to-length and handling requirements for each job. Soft-metal grades are not automatically in stock as ground rods, and achievable dimensions depend on the selected processing route.
