Common 2011 Aluminum Specifications & Heat-Treatment Conditions
| Material | 2011 Aluminum |
|---|---|
| Common specification | ASTM B211 for aluminum/alloy drawn or rolled rod/bar when specified; 2011 alloy designation. |
| Heat treatment or supplied temper | Often supplied in wrought tempers such as T3 or T8, subject to qualified product form. |
| Precision rod RFQ | Include grade, temper/condition, outside diameter and limits, bar length, quantity, finish and documentation. |
2011 aluminum is selected for machinability; specify temper and dimensional quality, not ‘annealed’ by assumption.
Standards and tempers are common references; do not assume stock availability or compliance. Final temper, documentation, surface requirements and heat-treatment coordination are established by quote.
FREE-MACHINING ALUMINUM / PRECISION ROD & ROUND BAR BUYING GUIDE
2011 is selected for precision machine parts where turning performance matters more than all-purpose fabrication.
2011 Aluminum Material Specification
AA 2011; check ASTM B211 or specified bar product standard. This should be paired with the final diameter, length, quantity and finish requirements when requesting a precision rod quote. A UNS/AA grade alone does not establish the delivered form or a special finishing process.
Available Condition and Processing Route
State the exact temper and any dimensional stability requirements.
For aluminum and copper-based alloys, turning, drawing, rolling, burnishing, polishing or other finishing methods may be more suitable than centerless grinding for a particular tolerance and surface. We confirm the process by material and order rather than advertising a universal grinder capability.
Potential 2011 Aluminum Applications
Swiss-machined fittings, screws and small hardware.
These are general purchasing/application examples. Every use, especially electrical, aerospace or regulated fluid systems, requires specific engineering and material certification review.
2011 Aluminum Centerless Ground & TG&P Bar Options
2011 Aluminum Centerless Ground Bar
When ordering 2011 Aluminum centerless ground rod or bar, free-machining 2011 alloy must be identified by exact temper and final diameter for precision grinding. Learn more about outside-diameter grinding requirements.
2011 Aluminum TG&P / Turned, Ground & Polished
For 2011 Aluminum TG&P (TGP) and turned, ground and polished rod inquiries, 2011 aluminum TG&P should be evaluated for temper, application, required polishing and material supply form. Review material supply and polishing.
A centerless-ground finish alone does not establish a complete TG&P processing route. Document material condition, OD tolerances, surface finish, straightness, length and inspection on the RFQ. Request pricing →
Technical and Compliance Checks
Machinability does not imply suitability for welding, corrosion service or a universal ground surface finish.
Information to Provide with Your RFQ
- Material identity: AA/UNS designation, standard, exact temper or supplied condition.
- Dimensions: finished outside diameter, upper and lower tolerance, full/cut lengths and quantity.
- Acceptance criteria: straightness, roundness and surface roughness when specified, with inspection methods.
- Application-specific: conductivity, corrosion or compliance requirements and certs when applicable.
- Scheduling: volume, shipping destination, packaging and requested delivery date.
Confirm Supply and Precision Finishing
Precision Ground Rods coordinates sourcing and finishing inquiries on a quotation basis. We evaluate rod sourcing, compatible finishing, cut-to-length and handling requirements for each job. Soft-metal grades are not automatically in stock as ground rods, and achievable dimensions depend on the selected processing route.
