12L14 Carbon Steel Rod Purchasing Specifications
SAE/AISI 12L14; check requested product specification and certified chemistry. A purchasing description must also identify whether the order is for raw stock, finished ground bar, or grinding of customer-owned stock. Finished outside diameter is separate from the material grade and is verified by an agreed inspection method.
Condition, Machining and Finishing
Specify cold-finished condition and whether any plating or post-machining process is planned.
Grinding allowance and wheel selection depend on incoming bar diameter, condition, length and straightness. If the bar will undergo subsequent heat treatment or plating, coordinate processing sequence and the final diameter acceptance with your engineer.

When a drawing calls for 12L14 Carbon Steel TG&P (TGP) or turned, ground and polished rod, 12L14 TG&P quotes should identify leaded grade compliance, exact diameter and finish for the intended component. Explore bar supply and surface finishing.
