1215 Carbon Steel Rod Purchasing Specifications
SAE/AISI 1215; confirm applicable ASTM A108 details. A purchasing description must also identify whether the order is for raw stock, finished ground bar, or grinding of customer-owned stock. Finished outside diameter is separate from the material grade and is verified by an agreed inspection method.
Condition, Machining and Finishing
Specify cold-finished bar and required surface and straightness.
Grinding allowance and wheel selection depend on incoming bar diameter, condition, length and straightness. If the bar will undergo subsequent heat treatment or plating, coordinate processing sequence and the final diameter acceptance with your engineer.

1215 Carbon Steel TG&P / Turned, Ground & Polished
When a drawing calls for 1215 Carbon Steel TG&P (TGP) or turned, ground and polished rod, 1215 turned, ground and polished availability must be checked for requested sizes and lengths. Explore bar supply and surface finishing.
